Making art is my “passionate meditation”

Whenever I’m doing anything else throughout the day – the ideas for my next piece are swirling around in my thoughts – choosing which vibrant or sometimes muted colours to put together – which mediums to use – whether to make something huge and striking or small and quiet…my love of creating constantly pulls me to the frustrations and triumphs of my studio…

My work is heavily textural – made of recycled materials – drywall and acrylics…I am drawn to interesting patterns which I find in old dresses – table cloths and scarves purchased from thrift stores…fabric has become my paint…and my most useful brushes are my hands…while I guide my pieces with intention – I also allow the materials to follow an organic pathway to completion…never knowing in advance exactly what the outcome will be…
